About the event

A low-level circular route from Edale village to Crowden Brook valley, passing beautiful cascades and including a woodland section. This guided group walk doesn't go up on to the plateau but does offer sensational views in clear weather conditions.

This route is featured in my new book 'Mountain Walks Kinder Scout' published by Vertebrate Publishing in Sheffield.

This walk will appeal most to people who are looking for a fairly gentle walk, and who are just getting to know this area of the Dark Peak. You can get a really good feel for Kinder Scout on this short route, and Sarah's book.

The maximum group number is 6 people and we will walk at an easy conversational pace. As a leader I encourage everyone to enjoy connecting with nature through a sensory experience. There's no pressure to engage in conversation for the whole walk.

We will take a break in the woods or by the river to enjoy hot drinks and snacks that you can carry with you. Bring a sketchbook, notebook, and/or camera if you'd like to take some time for creativity during our break.

Distance: approximately 4 miles

Terrain: short steep sections including a set of steps, narrow uneven paths, and expect wet and boggy patches. Trainers will not be suitable for this walk. Walking poles will be very helpful to prevent yourself from slipping over.

What to wear for the walk

  • Comfortable walking boots, preferably waterproof
  • Thick walking socks
  • Comfortable walking trousers (not jeans)
  • Light synthetic t-shirt
