About the event
Guided challenge walk from the village of Edale with a local guide. We will set off at dawn to watch the sunrise and spend the day up high walking along the Mam Tor Ridge, up Win Hill and along the southern edge of Kinder Scout.
You’ll need a headtorch, comfortable walking boots or trainers with good grip, comfortable walking clothes, extra warm layers, waterproofs, 2 litres of water, and plenty of food/snacks.
This event is for adults only. You’ll need a good level of fitness to complete this route. You can join my training walks in the build up to doing this in September.
We’ll walk at a conversational pace and take short breaks. There will be a longer break for lunch. I’ll point out places for comfort breaks and I’ll ask you to take all tissues and other waste away with you. Please note that the public toilets in Edale won’t be open when you arrive.
A weather forecast, parking details and a full kit list will be provided a day or two before the event. If you have any questions please email: sarah@sarahventurer.com
Edale has a train station between Sheffield and Manchester. To arrive on time you would need to stay in Edale the night before if travelling by public transport.
If you want to stay in Edale the night before, options include The Rambler and Nag’s Head pubs, Fieldhead or Newfold campsites, or various air bnbs. Please note that Edale Youth Hostel is not in the village or near the meeting point so would only be suitable if you have a car.
If you bring a dog please keep them on a lead at all times and make sure they are used to walking this sort of distance and on similar terrain. If you have any concerns please email me.
