Walking up Kinder Scout from Hayfield to Cluther Rocks offers more than just stunning views. It’s a journey through history, nature, and stories that have shaped the Peak District. Join Kirsten, her dog Tryfan, and me as we explore the landscape. Along the way, Kirsten shares her passion for archaeology and folklore, reveals the inspiration behind her book set in the Peak District, and shows what makes Kinder Scout so special to her.
I recorded half of our conversation spontaneously while we climbed, capturing the sounds of the river, our footsteps squelching in the peat, and the natural rhythm of our talk. This approach brings you closer to the experience, letting you feel the energy of the walk and the playful moments with Tryfan, especially when Kirsten discovers the Dog Stone.
